Mission
Statement:
Piano Press is based in Del Mar, CA, publishing
fun and interesting materials for music teachers and students. With
over twenty-three years of teaching experience, and the combined expertise
of many qualified educators, songwriters, musicians, authors, poets,
graphic artists, producers, and engineers, our mission is to provide
materials for both the private music studio and the music classroom.

link in the purple navigation bar above.
Our annual writing contest has encouraged poets, authors, and
songwriters to write on music-related topics as well as come forward with music-related
works they have written. Our
anthology, The Art of Music - A Collection of Writings, gives writers a chance to
share their music-related pieces and experience those written by others. The
anthology has been used in university-level poetry courses and can be found in
libraries and bookstores as well as museum and performing art center gift shops.
Our songbooks and CDs feature original songs and piano pieces by acclaimed songwriters and composers.
Intended both for instructional purposes and for entertainment, the songs and compositions we publish serve as
supplementary teaching pieces and can be used to accompany any method. We create
"pedagogically sound" piano arrangements that work well for instructional purposes.
Our lesson studio has provided both private and group lessons since
1984, in music store studios, private homes, and public and private
school classrooms. Our students have ranged from the very beginner
(3-4 years) to the senior citizen, from the hobbyist to the professional
recording artist. With a long list of alumni, we have seen our students
successfully perform in recitals, talent shows, festivals and competitions,
audition for and receive parts in musical theatre and opera productions, become
college music majors, and pursue professional recording careers.
We have worked with local public high schools to help students acquire
independent study credit towards graduation, as well as home school
students. Internships for course credit are available for college-level students. By providing a
comprehensive music program, our students learn general musicianship as well as proficiency on the instrument.
